As a lot of my inspirations, new brands or designers I quite
often find them by accident. I discovered Liz Martinez on Instagram and it was love
from the first sight. The photography was the first thing that drew my
attention. Which designer would be so brave to share the lookbook of the
collection based mainly on black & white photography? There is a famous
quote "When you photograph people in colour, you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in black and white, you photograph their souls!" So how come the photographs are black and white? She knew what she was doing! Her
designs are that good, I think black and white even more than colour underline
its unique values.
When I saw the photographs of the collection from 2015 for
the first time I screamed and thought these are the most beautiful dresses I
have ever seen in my life. I have been in love for many years with Elie Saab’s
and Zuhair Murad’s designs, however I am so sorry to cheat on my favourite
designers now, but Liz Martinez stole my heart. For me the designs are so
feminine, really detailed, unique, especially I adore the backless dresses – beautiful.
I really like the
bohemian style and embroidered lace.
For Liz Martinez, every design is the quintessential
expression of a woman’s inner beauty and seductive nature. The use of
unexpected materials, unconventional cuts, strict attention to details and
ability to flow with current trends, have placed Liz Martinez as one of the
most significant, fresh, and innovative designers to come out of
Israel. Each dress is a reminder of how a little girl’s dream can become a
reality, for a bride it could mean her wedding day, for the designer it is a
flourishing successful fashion house.
Ok, so where can we actually get the dream dress? Liz
Martinez’s flagship studio is located in the heart of Israel. Everything from
the designing, cutting, sewing, beading, marketing, communications and more is
done in-house. Liz believes that all elements of creating a bride’s dream dress
must be intimate and personal, and ultimately that every employee, and every
bride becomes part of the family. You can only get the dress in four different
countries so far: Israel, United Kingdom (2 stores), Italy (2 stores), USA (3
stores).
Let’s think about some maths now. How much do we actually
have to pay for the dream? I have done a big research and it wasn’t easy to
find the price. The only price I have managed to get was on the website called preownedweddingdresses
where you can buy it second hand, for only(!) $3500, where the retail price was
$6500.
Liz Martinez’s dress was, is and will be my dream dress. Let’s
start dreaming then!
